Google, Microsoft and Nvidia have joined forces for artificial intelligence

Fourteen giant technology companies, including Microsoft, Google, and Nvidia, have joined forces to establish the Secure Artificial Intelligence Coalition (CoSAI). This coalition aims to tackle escalating security issues surrounding artificial intelligence.

CoSAI’s objectives encompass several key areas: developing best practices and standards for AI security, fostering collaboration across industry stakeholders, advancing research on AI security technologies, and promoting transparency in AI deployments. By leveraging the collective expertise and resources of its members, CoSAI seeks to ensure that AI technologies are developed and deployed in a secure and trustworthy manner.

14 companies come together for AI security

Major companies including Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, Amazon, Nvidia, IBM, PayPal, Cisco, Anthropic, and Intel are collaborating to ensure the safe development of artificial intelligence. This initiative, organized under the umbrella of OASIS and known as CoSAI, aims to establish standards and practices for designing and developing secure AI systems.

CoSAI aims to foster an open-source community where methodologies, frameworks, and tools related to artificial intelligence can be freely shared. Led by a council responsible for steering the overall AI agenda, the coalition will focus on critical issues such as model theft and data security, alongside addressing potential abuses and attacks on AI systems. The statement emphasizes that failure to mitigate these threats could compromise the integrity and reliability of artificial intelligence.

Heather Adkins, Google’s Vice President of Security, highlighted the immense potential of AI while cautioning that without safe and responsible development practices, it also carries inherent risks.

The industry-wide group will closely monitor advancements in the field of artificial intelligence, particularly investigating issues related to AI security.
