Google Gemini 4 Outperforms GPT-1.5 Turbo
Google has unveiled an updated version of Gemini, labeled 1.5, which is currently available to institutions and developers. This iteration of artificial intelligence promises to captivate users with its superior performance. But what features does the new Gemini version boast?
The US-based tech giant Google has made a significant move with its generative artificial intelligence platform, Gemini. Just recently, Gemini was made available for the iOS ecosystem and has now been upgraded to version 1.5. This enhancement brings considerable advantages for its users.
In a detailed announcement, the company disclosed nearly every aspect of the upgrade. Yet, the most impactful feature for end-users will be the enhanced performance. To achieve this, Google has enabled the simultaneous operation of multiple AI models. Through these improvements, Google Gemini can now respond and take action more swiftly.
Google Gemini surpasses GPT-4 Turbo, albeit on paper
Google has announced that Gemini now features a new context window composed of 1 million tokens, the smallest units of data utilized for processing and generating text.
This marks a considerable advancement, especially when compared to OpenAI’s GPT-4 Turbo, which had a context window of 128,000 tokens. Thus, Google’s Gemini potentially surpasses GPT-4 Turbo in this regard.
What does all this mean? How will Gemini impact the end user?
Google has showcased several demos to better demonstrate the capabilities of Gemini 1.5. In one such demo, a 400-page document detailing the Apollo 11 mission was analyzed by the AI, which then responded to subsequent questions. Google requested a summary of humorous incidents that occurred during the mission, and the artificial intelligence provided an answer within just 30 seconds.
In another demonstration, a 44-minute clip from a movie featuring the globally renowned actor Buster Keaton was utilized. The team presented an image of water bursting from a water tank and tasked the AI with locating this scene in the film. The artificial intelligence pinpointed the scene with remarkable accuracy in just a matter of seconds.
As an end user, when will we use Gemini 1.5?
Google has stated that Gemini 1.5 is presently accessible to enterprises and developers via the AI Studio and Vertex AI platforms, and it is still in the early access phase.
Google has not disclosed when this version will become standard. Therefore, it will be necessary to wait a bit longer to fully utilize the advanced capabilities of Google’s generative artificial intelligence.
