Coca-Cola’s AI-Generated Christmas Commercial Draws Criticism

Coca-Cola created its new year’s commercial using artificial intelligence. Over 70,000 AI clips were produced, but the advertisement was criticized for its inconsistent style and artificial-looking characters.
Coca-Cola made a noticeable move for its 2025 Christmas commercial by using artificial intelligence exclusively for the first time. With contributions from AI studios such as Silverside and Secret Level, over 70,000 clips were generated, and the most suitable ones were selected and combined.
A team of 100 people worked on the production of the commercial. Manolo Arroyo, the company’s global marketing chief, described the process as the “future of advertising.” However, the results failed to create the expected impact.
Social media users pointed out that the advertisement was stylistically inconsistent and that the characters appeared artificial. The moving teddy bears and snowmen, in particular, were found to be aesthetically inadequate.
The criticisms suggest that AI cannot fully replace the human touch in creativity. By moving away from its historically emotional advertising line, Coca-Cola appears to have failed to capture emotion with technology this time.
