Developers and Infrastructure Goals
The massive user base the company has reached demonstrates the rapid expansion of the technological infrastructure behind OpenAI. Currently, 4 million developers worldwide are building applications using OpenAI technologies. The platform is notable for its usage intensity, processing approximately 6 billion tokens every minute.
To keep up with this demand, OpenAI has accelerated its investments in AI chips and infrastructure. The rapid pace of growth is better understood when considering that the company announced it was nearing 700 million weekly users just a few months ago in August, and that number was 500 million in March.
OpenAI Increases Its Value
OpenAI is also reaping the financial rewards of this growth. Following a private stock sale of $6.6 billion last week, the company’s market valuation reached $500 billion. This figure makes OpenAI one of the world’s most valuable private companies.
The company didn’t stop there, also introducing a new version of its video creation tool, Sora, and announcing its associated social media integration. Furthermore, it signed a strategic partnership with Stripe for the automation of online commerce, and revealed its goal of creating an inter-agency commerce platform.
