“Artificial intelligence” (AI) was chosen as the word of the year
The British-based Collins Dictionary has declared “artificial intelligence” (AI) as its Word of the Year for 2023.
According to The Guardian, Alex Beecroft from Collins Dictionary remarked that artificial intelligence has swiftly become one of this year’s dominant subjects and has integrated into our daily lives in a remarkably short period.

The publisher also pointed out that the frequency of the term “AI” has seen a fourfold increase over the course of this year.
Artificial intelligence is defined by the dictionary as “the simulation of human intelligence by computer programs.” Another term that made it onto the dictionary’s list of this year’s most prevalent words was “nepo baby.” The launch of ChatGPT in November 2022 sparked debates surrounding the technology’s usage last year.
