AI Touch to Samsung TVs: Perplexity is Now on Screens

Samsung is integrating the AI search engine Perplexity into its smart televisions. The application is active on 2025 models and will come to older models via an update.
Samsung has taken a notable step by collaborating with the AI-powered search engine Perplexity. The company has rolled out the Perplexity TV application on its 2025 smart TV models. The application will also be added to 2024 and 2023 TV models via an over-the-air (OTA) software update toward the end of the year.
Samsung users will be able to activate a 12-month free Perplexity Pro membership by scanning a QR code that appears on the screen via the new application.
Perplexity: The Next-Generation AI-Powered Search Experience
Perplexity stands out as an AI search engine that aims to provide users with the most accurate results by deeply scanning information on the internet.
Before companies like OpenAI and Anthropic introduced their chat-based search features, Perplexity was noted as one of the pioneering ventures in this field.
While competition has intensified with Google integrating its “AI Mode” feature into search results recently, Perplexity is trying to stand out by offering a distinct user experience. Thanks to the Samsung TV application, users can now search using both text and voice commands.
A Controversial Partnership

However, this partnership also brings with it some question marks.
Perplexity has recently been in the spotlight due to allegations of ethical violations and copyright infringement. In August, Cloudflare accused the company of unlawfully copying website data. In the same month, two leading media organizations in Japan also filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Perplexity.
These companies claimed that Perplexity not only used their content without permission but also associated them with false information. In September, Merriam-Webster also sued the company on similar grounds.
Despite all these controversies, Perplexity aims to reach a broader user base through its Samsung collaboration.
