Critical Claim for Starfield: Coming to Switch 2 and PS5

It is claimed that Starfield could be released for PS5 and Switch 2 in the first half of 2026. According to leaks, the new version may arrive with gameplay adjustments affecting the interface and space travel.

New details have emerged regarding the long-discussed platform expansion for Bethesda‘s space-themed role-playing game, Starfield. Based on information from reliable sources, Starfield is set to launch for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 in the first half of 2026.

This version is not expected to be merely a platform port. It is anticipated to arrive with a comprehensive update containing significant changes to some of the game’s criticized systems.

Starfield Coming Soon to PS5 and Switch 2

New reports shared by Windows Central once again confirm Microsoft‘s plans to move Starfield outside the Xbox ecosystem. Sources indicate that Bethesda aims to bring the game to new platforms within the first six months of 2026. Although a clear date has not been given, this timeframe points to a symbolic period for both Microsoft and Bethesda. In 2026, the Xbox brand will celebrate its 25th anniversary, while Bethesda will reach its 40th anniversary.

It is also noteworthy that this schedule falls in a period away from the sales pressure of GTA 6, which is expected to create a massive impact on the gaming industry. This implies a more favorable commercial ground for Starfield’s launch on new platforms. On the other hand, it is stated that there have been changes in Bethesda’s content planning. The second major Starfield expansion pack, previously rumored for release in 2025 and linked to the studio’s mysterious “Terran Armada” hint, is said to potentially be postponed to 2026.

Stated to Arrive with Significant Changes

Another possibility is that Starfield will launch at full price for PS5 and Switch 2 in early 2026, with this version including only the Shattered Space expansion. It is rumored that Terran Armada content could be offered as a separate update or DLC later in the year.

The technical update accompanying the new platform versions will also contain important innovations for players. According to reports, Bethesda is making adjustments to systems that were considered tedious. Specifically, improvements to the menu structure and user interface are being made, along with planned changes to make space travel more fluid and immersive.

Official statements from Bethesda indirectly support these claims. In a statement made in August, company executive Tim Lamb confirmed that a new story DLC was being developed for Starfield and that various optimizations to improve the game experience were on the way. Lamb noted that the teams were working specifically on space gameplay, aiming to make journeys more rewarding and adding new systems requested by players. Additionally, it was emphasized that new elements from verified content creators would be integrated into the game.
