The First Live Football Match on Metaverse
The Metaverse, often referred to as the virtual universe, continues to evolve as a distinct public space in the digital realm. In its latest advancement, a football match has been broadcasted in this immersive world where users can open shops, purchase houses, and acquire land.
The Milan-Fiorentina match, part of the Italian Serie A League, was showcased from the Serie A room within the Metaverse, specifically from the space known as “The Nemesis.”
This match marked the world’s first football game to be watched live in the Metaverse.
Luigi De Siervo, CEO of Serie A, expressed, “We decided to swiftly broadcast a football match in the Metaverse because we believe that pushing the boundaries of technological innovation is crucial for a modern organization like Serie A.”
The collaboration for the virtual match in the Metaverse involved the blockchain technology firm ConsenSys and the video game platform The Nemesis, both working together for this unique event featuring Italian teams.
