Tinder’s New AI Feature Will Get to Know You From Your Photos

Tinder is testing a new AI-powered feature called “Chemistry” that analyzes users’ photos. The goal is more compatible matches and less fatigue.

Tinder has started testing a new artificial intelligence feature aimed at better understanding users’ interests and providing them with suitable matches. According to the announcement by Match Group, Tinder’s parent company, this feature, named “Chemistry,” attempts to understand users’ personality and tastes by analyzing the photos in their camera rolls.

🎯 Goal: Solving “Swipe Fatigue”

Tinder states that the feature is completely optional (opt-in). That is, the application does not access photos without the user’s permission. With this system, the company specifically aims to reduce the fatigue of constantly searching for matches, known as “swipe fatigue.”

Spencer Rascoff, CEO of Match Group, announced the feature during an earnings call on Tuesday, saying it will be a significant part of Tinder’s 2026 product experience.

🧠 AI That Knows the User

According to the company’s statement, Chemistry tries to get to know users through “fun and interactive questions.” With the user’s permission, it gathers clues about interests and personality traits from the photos. Tinder expects this to go beyond classic profiles, providing more accurate and meaningful matches.

A Tinder spokesperson stated, “Developed with deep learning technology, Chemistry will allow users to have fewer but more meaningful interactions by highlighting only a few highly compatible profiles each day.”

🌏 Testing Began in Australia and New Zealand

The new AI-powered system is currently being tested in Australia and New Zealand. Match Group plans to expand the feature to other countries in the coming months, but it is not yet clear when it will be available in the US.

✨ New Experiences: “Modes” and “Double Date”

In addition to Chemistry, Tinder is working on other new features. The “Modes” system, introduced in September, allows users to personalize their experience.

  • College Mode: Allows users to meet new people within college communities/circles.
  • Double Date Mode: Enables users to match with other couples and meet together.

The company reports that the Double Date mode is particularly popular among users in Europe and Generation Z.

🔧 Technical Improvements Continue

Match Group also announced that it is making improvements to Tinder’s technical infrastructure.

  • The application start-up time on Android devices has been speeded up by 38%.
  • Crash rates have been reduced by 32%.

It is also stated that stability and performance enhancements have been achieved on the iOS side.
