China Prepares to Send Astronauts to the Moon by 2030

China is steadily advancing towards its goal of landing astronauts on the Moon by 2030. The country is pushing forward with its lunar program while also preparing for a new crew mission to the Tiangong Space Station.
China continues its preparations for a crewed lunar mission by 2030, in line with its goal of becoming a leader in space exploration. Zhang Jingbo, spokesperson for the country’s crewed space program, stated that the work is progressing as planned, saying, “Currently, every research and development activity related to the crewed lunar program is proceeding smoothly. China’s goal of sending humans to the Moon by 2030 is definitive.”

Zhang also emphasized that significant progress has been made on essential components such as the development of the Long March 10 rocket, lunar landing suits, and the rover. These vehicles are stated to be central to the technological infrastructure that will enable China to send astronauts to the lunar surface for the first time.
Alongside its preparations for the Moon mission, China is also continuing its work on the Tiangong Space Station. The project, initiated after the US excluded China from the International Space Station (ISS) due to security concerns, is one of the most concrete examples of China’s effort to establish its own independent research platform. A new crew will also be sent to this station on Friday. The astronauts will stay at the station for approximately six months during their mission and will conduct various scientific experiments. As part of the mission, the crew will also take two female and two male mice with them. This experiment will investigate the biological effects of the weightless environment and closed living conditions.
