A sequel to the box-office hit, A Minecraft Movie, is on the way. Warner Bros. announced that preparations for Minecraft 2 have begun and set the film’s release date.
A Minecraft Movie, which met with moviegoers this year, had an impressive performance at the box office, becoming one of the year’s highest-grossing films. The film grossed $957.8 million worldwide. With the Minecraft movie being so successful, a sequel was inevitable. That film has now been officially announced today.
Minecraft 2 will be Released on July 23, 2027 Warner Bros. announced that preparations for Minecraft 2 have begun and has set the film’s release date as July 23, 2027. The director of the first film, Jared Hess, will also be at the helm of the sequel.
A Minecraft Movie, which blends CGI animation with live-action footage, follows four mismatched characters who step through a mysterious portal into the Overworld and suddenly find themselves in the realm of Minecraft. For this quartet to return home, they must explore the Overworld‘s blocky world and embark on an entertaining adventure.
The cast of the first film included famous names such as Jack Black, Jason Momoa, and Kate McKinnon. They were accompanied by young actors like Sebastian Hansen and Emma Myers. Although a cast for the sequel has not yet been announced, we can assume that this main team will also star in the follow-up film.
