Apple has reportedly begun discussions with OpenAI and Anthropic to enhance Siri. The goal is to make Siri smarter and more useful, with Apple seeking a collaboration to strengthen Siri’s underlying infrastructure.
Both OpenAI and Anthropic are developing AI models compatible with Apple‘s privacy-focused private servers, and Apple has already started testing these models. However, a definitive decision on whether Siri will fully transition to these systems has not yet been made.
According to reports, Apple seems to favor Anthropic’s models and has started discussing financial terms. Anthropic is reportedly seeking billions of dollars from Apple over time. While Apple is also developing its own AI model, it hasn’t reached the desired level of sophistication and recognizes the urgency to meet user expectations.
In essence, Apple is close to striking a deal with either OpenAI or Anthropic to keep Siri competitive with current technological advancements and to buy time for the further development of its in-house system.
