Meta Lays Off Over 100 Employees from Its Metaverse Division

Meta has reportedly laid off more than 100 employees from Reality Labs, its division focused on metaverse development. According to reports, the layoffs impacted teams responsible for building immersive experiences for Meta’s virtual reality (VR) headsets and developing VR and metaverse-related hardware.

Meta spokesperson Tracy Clayton confirmed the layoffs, stating that some teams underwent structural and role changes, which affected overall team sizes. Clayton added that these steps would help the company work more efficiently on future mixed reality experiences for its expanding audience.
However, Meta did not confirm the exact number of employees affected by the decision.
