Apple’s Game-Changing Siri Upgrade? Explosive Claim on Apple-OpenAI Agreement
Apple will focus on artificial intelligence in the upcoming iOS 18 operating system. A new report reveals that the company has reached an agreement with OpenAI for artificial intelligence integration.
Apple aims to bring generative AI to its other platforms, particularly iOS 18. So far, the company has focused on smaller models that can run on the device, rather than large language models (LLMs) like those used by other competitors.
For this reason, it was speculated that Apple was seeking a partnership with Google or Microsoft for more advanced cloud-based AI solutions. According to a strong rumor, Apple may have reached an agreement with Microsoft-backed OpenAI.
Apple may have made a deal with OpenAI
There have been many rumors about Apple being in talks with OpenAI to use GPT technology in iOS 18. Now, a report from The Information reveals that these talks have been ongoing since mid-2023, citing OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
Employees from Apple’s machine learning team reportedly met with Altman and other members of OpenAI in mid-2023, around last year’s WWDC. As a result of these negotiations, Apple is said to have reached an agreement to access OpenAI APIs. With this access, Apple engineers have integrated ChatGPT into Siri, enabling the assistant to answer much more difficult and complex questions.
Additionally, it will be interesting to see how Microsoft reacts to this deal. As it is known, Microsoft is the biggest supporter of OpenAI and has a special agreement with them. Microsoft has invested $13 billion in OpenAI so far, using OpenAI’s Azure servers. OpenAI, in turn, powers most artificial intelligence platforms, including Microsoft’s Copilot. However, Microsoft has not prevented OpenAI from partnering with other companies, allowing the AI giant to operate autonomously.
