In a fairly short period of time since the launch of the 6th generation robot, and even less so since the 5th generation Phoenix was launched in January 2023, Sanctuary AI has made remarkable advances with the 7th generation. The company claims that this newest iteration represents the most complex model to date and has undergone rigorous training on high-level data to mimic human behavior with unparalleled accuracy.

The improvements in the new Phoenix are evident in its speed, intelligence and dexterity. It has more runtime, which allows for more training and data capture, and includes significant hardware upgrades that increase the flexibility of its limbs. Miniaturized hydraulics have reduced weight, power consumption and complexity. Moreover, 7. The generation demonstrates enhanced visual acuity and haptic sensing, enabling new tasks to be learned quickly in as little as 24 hours.

Sanctuary AI released images demonstrating the Phoenix 7’s advanced dexterity during a colorful object classification exercise, demonstrating its ability to learn independently and replicate tasks after being trained by a human instructor via teleoperation.

This latest model represents a significant leap forward in robotics and offers potential applications for assisting human workers with laborious or repetitive tasks. By allowing human personnel to focus on more complex responsibilities, these robots could revolutionize a variety of industries.

Geordie Rose, CEO and Co-Founder of Sanctuary AI, expressed his excitement at the progress made in just 11 months, saying that the 7th edition of the Sanctuary AI will be the first to be held. He believes that Generation is the most human-like generation among the available options. He sees this not only as a milestone in AI robotics, but also as an important step towards artificial general intelligence. Advancements in Phoenix robots are expected to accelerate the development of core AI models and customer deployments, easing the path to wider adoption and integration of AI technologies across various industries.
