YouTube’s AI Tools: Dream Screen, AI Dubbing

Artificial intelligence is increasingly being woven into the fabric of daily life, and YouTube, one of the foremost video platforms globally, is no exception.

At its Made on YouTube event, the company unveiled several new AI-powered tools designed to enhance the creative process for its users. Among the innovations set to debut this year or the next are AI-generated photo and video backgrounds, suggestions for video topics powered by AI, and a music search feature.

A standout among these innovations is the Dream Screen tool. This feature allows creators to produce AI-generated videos and photos for use as backgrounds in their YouTube Shorts. Initially, creators will input prompts to generate these backgrounds.

YouTube also highlighted that creators could leverage AI tools to remix and edit their existing content, crafting entirely new creations.

Furthermore, AI tools will begin to offer insights into potential content directions. A forthcoming AI feature within YouTube Studio will suggest topics and draft outlines for upcoming videos.

Another significant announcement was an AI dubbing feature, enabling creators to translate their videos into different languages. This initiative was bolstered by the integration of the Aloud team from Google’s Area 120 incubator, brought in earlier this year to contribute to the development of this feature.

It’s worth noting that the company has also been experimenting with AI-generated video summaries and is actively developing its AI strategy in collaboration with record labels and musicians.

These new AI-powered tools from YouTube promise to revolutionize the way creators approach, develop, and format their content. The impact of these advancements will be witnessed collectively in the future.
