Xpeng Shares “Naked” Version of Its Robot ‘Iron’ for Those Saying “There’s a Person Inside”

The humanoid robot introduced by Xpeng led to discussions about “is there a real person inside?”. The firm responded to these claims directly with a video.

The China-based automotive and technology company Xpeng has hit the headlines with the humanoid robot it introduced, Iron. The robot’s almost flawless external structure and human-like movements sparked discussions on social media after its presentation, asking, “I wonder if there is a person inside?”

Xpeng responded to these claims in an interesting way: it released a video showing Iron’s internal structure and electronic components. Thus, it was clearly demonstrated that the robot is truly mechanical and that there is no human inside. Iron’s hands have 22 degrees of freedom, and thanks to its AI-supported system, it can react to its environment. The screen on its head gives it the capability for both interaction and information sharing.

The company aims for Iron to enter commercial production by the end of 2026. Furthermore, it is planned for the robot to communicate naturally with its environment thanks to its next-generation artificial intelligence system, which they call Vision-Language-Action (VLA).
