Vivek Sharma, the Vice President of Meta’s Horizon Metaverse software division, has departed from the company. Sharma served in various roles at Meta for almost six years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharma, who recently departed from his position at Meta, was responsible for overseeing several VR initiatives, including the virtual reality-centric online game Second Life and Horizon Worlds. In a statement regarding his departure, a Meta spokesperson said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Under his leadership, the Horizon team has established a solid foundation with a bold vision, and this is just the beginning. Meta continues to be a breeding ground for exceptional leadership. We are eager to see what Vivek accomplishes in his next venture.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The spokesperson also mentioned that the Horizon team will now report directly to Vishal Shah, Vice President of the Metaverse at Meta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meta views the metaverse<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, a digital world accessible through VR and other augmented reality technologies, as the next frontier in computing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has revealed plans to launch a new VR headset in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
