It\u2019s not just a line of code; it\u2019s a physical transaction with nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The ChatGPT &#8220;Sip&#8221;:<\/strong> Research suggests that for every 20 to 50 questions you ask a high-end AI, the data center &#8220;drinks&#8221; about <strong>500ml of water<\/strong>. That is a standard plastic bottle of water gone, just so I can summarize an email or generate a joke.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Global Scale:<\/strong> By the time we reach next year, global AI demand could be responsible for withdrawing up to <strong>6.6 billion cubic meters<\/strong> of water.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Carbon Footprint:<\/strong> It\u2019s a double-edged sword. However, I believe we need a shift in how we value these &#8220;compute cycles.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Efficiency over Power:<\/strong> We need models that do more with less energy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Location Matters:<\/strong> Placing data centers in climates where natural cold air can do the cooling, rather than using water-intensive evaporative systems in deserts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Transparency:<\/strong> I want to see a &#8220;water cost&#8221; label on my AI tools.
