Over 188,000 fully electric cars<\/strong> were sold in the EU<\/strong> in November. Thus, while the market share<\/strong> exceeded 21%, gasoline<\/strong> and diesel<\/strong> vehicle sales experienced a sharp decline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rise of fully electric vehicles<\/strong> in the European Union<\/strong> car market continues without slowing down. In November, 188,730 new electric passenger cars hit the roads across the EU. This number represents a strong increase of 44.1%<\/strong> compared to the same month last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the January-November period, a total of 1,662,399 new electric cars were registered in the EU. The share of electric vehicles in the total market<\/strong> reached 16.9%<\/strong> in this period. In the same period last year, this rate was 13.4%, and sales were around 1.3 million units. The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA)<\/strong> states that this market share reached by electric vehicles is in line with year-end expectations, while emphasizing that there is still significant growth potential<\/strong> for the transformation to accelerate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first 11 months of the year, a total of 9.86 million new cars were sold across the EU. While this number indicates a limited increase of 1.4% in the general market, the growth in electric vehicles was much more remarkable. In the same period, fully electric vehicle<\/a><\/em><\/strong> sales increased by 27.6%, and rechargeable hybrids (PHEV)<\/strong> increased by 33.1%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When looking only at November, the picture becomes even clearer. Electric vehicles became the fastest-growing side of the EU car market<\/strong>. While a total of 887,491 new vehicles were sold across all engine types, 21.3% of this consisted of fully electric models<\/strong>. Although rechargeable hybrids<\/strong> grew by 38.4% in November, they remained behind electric vehicles with sales of 91,699 units. In November, hybrid vehicles<\/strong> (including full and mild hybrids according to the ACEA definition) became the most preferred engine type with approximately 302,000 units. However, growth in this segment remained limited to only 4.2%. In contrast, gasoline vehicle<\/strong> sales experienced a decline of over 20% with 206,448 units, and diesel<\/strong> sales with 70,120 units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another point drawing attention in ACEA data<\/strong> is that mild hybrids<\/strong> are no longer counted in the internal combustion engine<\/strong> category. Although this situation creates some shifts in statistics, the growth trend in November clearly reveals that users are turning from classic gasoline and diesel vehicles<\/strong> to rechargeable hybrids<\/strong> and fully electric models<\/strong>. If the current trend continues, it will not be a surprise if electric vehicles surpass gasoline cars in sales figures across the EU in the near future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Increases were recorded in all four major markets, which make up 62% of electric vehicle sales in the EU. Germany<\/strong> showed growth of 41.3%, Belgium<\/strong> 10.2%, the Netherlands<\/strong> 8.8%, and France<\/strong> 9.1%. The increase in rechargeable hybrids<\/strong> was driven especially by Spain<\/strong> (+113%), Italy<\/strong> (+80.6%), and Germany<\/strong> (+62.7%). The same countries stood out as markets where the sharpest declines in gasoline vehicle<\/strong> sales were experienced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
