Following the success of its manned flight<\/strong>, Vertical Aerospace<\/strong> has introduced its new eVTOL model<\/strong>, Valo<\/strong>. Aiming for certification<\/strong> in 2028<\/strong>, Valo draws attention with its longer range<\/strong>, fast charging<\/strong>, and advanced design<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

eVTOL developer<\/strong> Vertical Aerospace announced its certification goal<\/strong> for the year 2028<\/strong> by unveiling its new model, Valo. Valo is positioned as the commercial version<\/strong> of the VX4 prototype<\/strong>, which performed a manned flight<\/strong> in the UK this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Vertical Aerospace, Valo distinguishes itself from its predecessor specifically with its renewed aerodynamic design<\/strong>. The company states that this new approach was shaped in line with data obtained<\/strong> from the current test program<\/strong> and direct feedback<\/strong> received from airline operators<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new vehicle can reach a range<\/strong> of up to 160 kilometers<\/strong> and a speed<\/strong> of 240 km\/h<\/strong>. In the company’s initial commercial route planning<\/strong>, key connections<\/strong> between airports<\/strong> and city centers<\/strong> stand out. Aimed at commercial use<\/strong>, this model features remarkable characteristics such as a four-passenger capacity<\/strong>, a more aerodynamic cabin<\/strong>, an underfloor battery layout<\/strong>, renewed wing and propeller architecture<\/strong>, and an improved material structure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the powertrain<\/strong> side, Valo features eight liquid-cooled underfloor battery packs<\/strong>, which can be recharged<\/strong> in approximately 12 minutes<\/strong> for “short missions<\/strong>.” The vehicle<\/a><\/em><\/strong> also includes eight electric propulsion units (EPU)<\/strong>, each having electrically isolated multiple circuits<\/strong>. In parallel with Valo, the company is also developing a hybrid-electric variant<\/strong> of the VX4<\/strong> that offers a 1,600-kilometer range<\/strong>, 1,100 kg payload<\/strong>, and both manned and unmanned mission capabilities<\/strong>. According to previous statements, flight tests<\/strong> for the second-generation hybrid powertrain<\/strong> will begin in the second quarter of 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
