Meta<\/strong> has postponed the launch of its new mixed reality headset<\/strong>, codenamed “Phoenix<\/strong>,” to 2027<\/strong>. With the Limitless acquisition<\/strong> and the new “Malibu 2<\/strong>” wearable device<\/strong>, the company’s future plans are taking shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expected big reveal for Meta’s new mixed reality headset<\/strong> has been postponed to the first half of 2027<\/strong>. In an internal note, Meta<\/a><\/em> Reality Labs Foundation<\/strong> Vice President Maher Saba<\/strong> confirmed that the device codenamed “Phoenix<\/strong>” will no longer be released in 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a separate briefing shared by Meta executives<\/strong>, this postponement aims for the device to offer a much more “polished and reliable user experience<\/strong>.” As reported by Business Insider<\/strong>, Gabriel Aul<\/strong> and Ryan Cairns<\/strong> from Meta stated that the new schedule provides the team with “much more breathing room<\/strong> to do this right.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although public information about Phoenix<\/strong> is quite limited, according to previous reports from The Information<\/strong>, the device will have a glasses-like design<\/strong> and an external power source<\/strong>, similar to the Apple Vision Pro<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, the company recently announced that it has acquired the startup Limitless<\/strong>, which develops an AI-focused wearable device<\/strong> named Pendant<\/strong>. Although Meta’s current product range<\/strong> mainly consists of smart glasses<\/strong> and VR headsets<\/strong>, the Limitless acquisition<\/strong> and the Malibu 2 project<\/strong> indicate that the company aims to expand its product range in the field of wearable technology<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
