Hyundai<\/strong> has officially unveiled its four-wheeled autonomous robot<\/strong> developed for both industrial<\/strong> and daily use<\/strong>. The multi-purpose robot named MobED<\/strong> will be available for sale next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hyundai has officially introduced its autonomous robot<\/strong>, developed for both industrial and daily use, moving its robotics<\/strong> goals into the production phase<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Developed by the company’s Robotics<\/a><\/em> Laboratory<\/strong>, the four-wheeled compact machine is known as MobED<\/strong> (Mobile Eccentric Droid). The robot was recently exhibited at the 2025 International Robot Exhibition<\/strong> (iREX 2025) in Tokyo. First shown at the CES<\/strong> event in Las Vegas in 2022, MobED has now been made ready for mass production<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are MobED’s capabilities?<\/strong> Featuring AI-supported route planning<\/strong> and obstacle detection<\/strong>, the robot utilizes a combination of LiDAR<\/strong> and cameras<\/strong> to perceive its surroundings. Furthermore, thanks to its modular structure<\/strong>, it can be adapted for many tasks ranging from delivery<\/strong> and logistics<\/strong> to research<\/strong>, media work, and carrying golf equipment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hyundai states that the robot is developed to work smoothly in both narrow indoor corridors<\/strong> and uneven outdoor terrains<\/strong>. The main reason for this is the eccentric control mechanism<\/strong> that actively adjusts the robot’s height<\/strong> and posture<\/strong>. In practice, this system ensures MobED stays balanced on slopes<\/strong>, dampens uneven surfaces<\/strong>, and maintains stability<\/strong> even when carrying heavy loads<\/strong>. Additionally, each wheel contains Hyundai’s Drive-and-Life (DnL)<\/strong> components, which combine driving, steering, and height adjustment into a single compact module<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company announced that the platform will go on sale in two versions: the Basic<\/strong> and the Professional model<\/strong>. The Professional version will feature fully autonomous AI<\/strong>, LiDAR-camera fusion<\/strong>, advanced sensors<\/strong>, and a “follow me” mode<\/strong> for logistics, delivery, or inspection workers. In contrast, the basic model does not include ready-made autonomy software<\/strong>. This version is stated to appeal more to researchers<\/strong> and developers<\/strong> who want to develop their own applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the company, the MobED Pro model<\/strong> has a width of 75 cm, a length of 115 cm, and a height of 65 cm. The Basic model<\/strong> is designed to maintain the same width and length but with a lower height of approximately 43 cm. Both robots can carry a load<\/strong> between 47 and 57 kilograms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
