Famous investor Michael Burry<\/strong>, known for “The Big Short<\/strong>,” stated that Bitcoin<\/strong> has reached extreme valuation and described the cryptocurrency as the “tulip bulb<\/strong> of our time.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investor, who gained fame with the movie “The Big Short,” once again brought his criticisms regarding Bitcoin<\/strong> to the agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a podcast hosted by Michael Lewis<\/strong>, Burry compared the blockchain-based cryptocurrency<\/strong> to the “tulip bulb of our time,” referring to the tulip mania<\/strong> of the 1600s where prices inflated and collapsed due to speculation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saying “It is complete nonsense for Bitcoin<\/a><\/em><\/strong> to reach $100,000<\/strong>,” Burry defined the cryptocurrency as an asset with “no value<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The famous investor also argued that Bitcoin deepens the financial activities<\/strong> of criminal organizations<\/strong>, stating, “This is worse than a tulip bulb because it has led to criminal activities<\/strong> becoming even more invisible.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bitcoin<\/strong> broke a record by rising above $120,000<\/strong> in October, but has lost more than 30 percent<\/strong> of its value since then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burry’s outburst regarding Bitcoin is evaluated as part of the famous investor’s strong return to the public eye after years of silence. Announcing that he took large positions against Nvidia<\/a><\/em><\/strong> and Palantir<\/strong> last month, Burry also argues that Tesla<\/a><\/em><\/strong> is “overvalued<\/strong>” and frequently warns about the AI bubble<\/strong> on X<\/strong> and Substack<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He Warned in the Past Too<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Burry had issued similar warnings about Bitcoin<\/strong> in 2021<\/strong>. Although he stated at the time that the rationale for the cryptocurrency’s existence was “meaningful,” he defined Bitcoin as a “speculative bubble<\/strong> containing more risk<\/strong> than opportunity.” In a post that was later deleted, Burry stated, “If you do not know how much leverage<\/strong> is involved in the run-up, you do not know enough to own it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
