Continuing to speak ambitiously about Tesla<\/strong>‘s humanoid robot Optimus<\/strong>, Elon Musk<\/strong> says that in the near future, Optimus<\/strong> robots will be produced by other Optimus<\/strong> robots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tesla<\/strong> has turned its focus to the humanoid robot<\/a><\/em><\/strong> project Optimus<\/strong> for a few years now. Although the Optimus<\/strong> project has progressed slower than Elon Musk<\/a><\/em><\/strong> initially promised, it has now taken a much more concrete form. As a matter of fact, Tesla<\/strong>‘s humanoid robots<\/strong> are expected to join the workforce<\/strong> in the very near future, and shortly thereafter, be offered for sale as assistant robots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elon Musk<\/strong>, who recently announced that mass production<\/strong> lines for Optimus<\/strong> have started to be established, has now shared another interesting detail about production plans. Musk<\/strong>‘s plan is to create a system where Optimus<\/strong> robots multiply by manufacturing other Optimus<\/strong> robots. Referencing the self-replicating<\/strong> theoretical spacecraft concept proposed by famous mathematician John von Neumann<\/strong> in the 1940s, Musk<\/strong> believes Optimus<\/strong> will bring the von Neumann<\/strong> model to life. According to Musk<\/strong>, Optimus<\/strong> will thus become the highest volume product ever produced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elon Musk Thinks Billions of Optimus Robots Will Be Produced Every Year in the Future<\/strong> Elon Musk<\/strong> plans to first establish a production line of one million units per year at Tesla<\/strong>‘s Fremont factory<\/strong>, and then commission a larger line of ten million units annually at the Gigafactory<\/strong> in Texas<\/strong>. In the long term, he foresees production rising to the level of billions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this brave new world Elon Musk<\/a><\/em><\/strong> dreams of, there seems to be little room for human laborers<\/strong>. Indeed, just this week, he revealed his vision on this subject by stating that working will become optional within 10 to 20 years. However, he did not touch much upon the massive unemployment problem this would create and the socioeconomic changes it would cause in societies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
