The first launch following the establishment of <strong>KASA<\/strong> (<strong>Korea AeroSpace Administration<\/strong>) also indicates <strong>Korea<\/strong>&#8216;s transition to <strong>private sector integration<\/strong> in the <strong>space industry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>South Korea<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Nuri rocket<\/strong>, developed entirely with domestic capabilities, successfully completed its flight for the <strong>fourth time<\/strong>. Launched from the <strong>Naro <em><a href=\"https:\/\/metaverseplanet.net\/blog\/future-of-space-technology\/\" data-type=\"category\" data-id=\"152\">Space<\/a><\/em> Center<\/strong> at 01:13 AM on November 27 Korean Standard Time (19:13 on November 26 Turkey time), <strong>Nuri<\/strong> marks an important turning point in the country&#8217;s <strong>space program<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>47-meter<\/strong> tall <strong>three-stage rocket<\/strong> carried <strong>CAS500-3<\/strong>, an <strong>Earth observation satellite<\/strong>, and a dozen tiny <strong>cube satellites<\/strong> accompanying it into <strong>orbit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"940\" height=\"529\" src=\"https:\/\/metaverseplanet.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/korea.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-35230\" srcset=\"https:\/\/metaverseplanet.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/korea.webp 940w, https:\/\/metaverseplanet.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/korea-300x169.webp 300w, https:\/\/metaverseplanet.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/korea-768x432.webp 768w, https:\/\/metaverseplanet.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/korea-390x220.webp 390w, https:\/\/metaverseplanet.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/korea-150x84.webp 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If everything proceeds as planned, <strong>CAS500-3<\/strong> will settle into a <strong>Sun-synchronous orbit<\/strong> at an altitude of <strong>600 kilometers<\/strong> above Earth. When this <strong>500-kilogram<\/strong> satellite begins operation, it will study the light rings surrounding our planet&#8217;s poles, namely <strong>auroras<\/strong>, and other <strong>atmospheric phenomena<\/strong> known as <strong>airglow<\/strong>. Additionally, according to a statement by the <strong>Korea AeroSpace Administration<\/strong> (<strong>KASA<\/strong>), established in May 2024, <strong>CAS500-3<\/strong> will also measure <strong>magnetic fields<\/strong> and <strong>plasma<\/strong>. The <strong>12 secondary cube satellites<\/strong> on the rocket were provided by various companies, academic institutions, and research centers and will undertake different missions in <strong>orbit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nuri<\/strong> stands out as <strong>South Korea<\/strong>&#8216;s first fully indigenous <strong>orbital rocket<\/strong>. Although the country&#8217;s previous launcher, <strong>Naro-1<\/strong>, was able to reach <strong>orbit<\/strong>, it used a modified Russian-made <strong>Angara rocket<\/strong> for its first stage. While <strong>Nuri<\/strong> failed in its first flight in October 2021, it returned with two consecutive successful launches in June 2022 and May 2023.
