Built in <strong>California<\/strong>, the facility features <strong>164 charging points<\/strong> powered by <strong>solar panels<\/strong> and <strong>batteries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Powered by Solar and Megapacks<\/strong> Tesla announced that all <strong>Supercharger units<\/strong> at its largest charging station are now in service. Located in the <strong>Lost Hills<\/strong> region of <strong>California<\/strong>, this massive facility is powered by <strong>11 MW solar canopies<\/strong> that provide shade for the parking spaces. Tesla has distinguished itself with larger installations in this regard. Previously, the 120-unit <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/metaverseplanet.net\/blog\/tesla-ev-charging-calculator\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"23670\">Supercharger station<\/a><\/em><\/strong> in <strong>Barstow, California<\/strong> was the company&#8217;s largest. The new facility contains <strong>164 charging units<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This new facility by Tesla could set a <strong>new standard<\/strong> for fully <strong>sustainable electric vehicle charging<\/strong>. It also demonstrates Tesla\u2019s <strong>vertical integration<\/strong> approach. The company not only manufactures <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/metaverseplanet.net\/blog\/smart-electric-vehicles\/\" data-type=\"category\" data-id=\"162\">electric vehicles<\/a><\/em><\/strong> but also develops <strong>charging stations<\/strong> and the <strong>energy systems<\/strong> that power them. In the US, it can take utility companies months or even years to complete necessary <strong>infrastructure upgrades<\/strong> and activate a new <strong>fast-charging station<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first <strong>84 units<\/strong> of the station opened in early July, just 8 months after construction began. The completion of the entire site took approximately one year. <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/metaverseplanet.net\/blog\/spiderweb-designed-floating-solar-energy-system-developed\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"31348\">Solar energy<\/a><\/em><\/strong> and <strong>battery storage<\/strong> play a critical role here. While <strong>renewable sources<\/strong> are clean, they are not constant. Batteries compensate for this by storing energy for use when the sun is not shining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De Zegher notes that the station is not technically completely <strong>off-grid<\/strong>. There is a small <strong>grid connection<\/strong> at the station intended for future <strong>capacity increases<\/strong>.
