BMW<\/strong>‘s recently introduced electric car<\/strong>, the iX3<\/strong>, exceeded range expectations<\/strong>, managing to surpass 1,000 km<\/strong> on a single charge<\/strong> during a drive on public roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second-generation iX3<\/strong>, introduced a few months ago, boasts an 800 km range<\/strong> according to WLTP standards<\/strong>. However, in a real-world test on open roads, the electric SUV<\/strong> succeeded in exceeding the 1,000 km<\/strong> mark on a single charge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Journey from Hungary to Munich<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

BMW<\/strong> assigned a small team to test the limits of its new model built on the next-generation electric vehicle platform Neue Klasse<\/strong>. This team took the iX3<\/strong> from the Debrecen factory<\/strong> in Hungary<\/strong>, where it is produced, on a journey toward BMW<\/a><\/em>‘s headquarters<\/strong> in Munich<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team successfully completed the 1,007 km route<\/strong> on a single charge<\/strong>.Moreover, when the journey ended, the vehicle still had 2% charge<\/strong> remaining. This theoretically means they could have traveled approximately 20 km<\/strong> more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Did the Team Achieve This?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As expected, the team did everything possible to extend the iX3’s range<\/strong>. For example, they avoided highways<\/strong> during the trip, opting for lower-speed roads where the vehicle’s regenerative braking system<\/strong> would be most effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, instead of the optional 21 or 22-inch wheels<\/strong>, smaller 20-inch wheels<\/strong> were used on the tested vehicle. To reduce energy consumption<\/strong>, features like air conditioning<\/strong>, the heating system<\/strong>, and the radio<\/strong> were kept off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BMW<\/strong> performed the drive with the iX3 50 xDrive model<\/strong>, which is the only version announced for now. This version produces 463 horsepower<\/strong> with its dual electric<\/a><\/em> motors<\/strong> and completes the 0-100 km\/h acceleration<\/strong> in 4.7 seconds<\/strong>. The vehicle also features a significantly large battery pack<\/strong> with a capacity of 108.7 kWh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
