SpaceX<\/strong> has successfully completed its 500th orbital mission<\/strong> with its reused rockets<\/a><\/em><\/strong>. The Falcon 9 rocket<\/strong> used in the mission also successfully placed the Sentinel-6B satellite<\/strong> into orbit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Achieving another historic success<\/strong>, SpaceX<\/a><\/em><\/strong> has completed its 500th orbital mission<\/strong> using reusable rockets<\/strong>. During the liftoff<\/strong> that took place on Monday, November 17<\/strong> at 21:21 local time<\/strong> from Vandenberg Space Force Base<\/strong> in California<\/strong>, NASA<\/a><\/em><\/strong> and ESA<\/strong>‘s Sentinel-6B ocean observation satellite<\/strong> was also successfully placed into orbit. On the other hand, the Falcon 9<\/strong> used in the mission has been reused three times<\/strong> so far.\"Falcon<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SpaceX Continues to Write History<\/strong> SpaceX<\/strong> announced this significant reuse milestone<\/strong> on the social media platform X<\/strong>. Gwynne Shotwell<\/strong>, the company’s President and COO<\/strong>, also praised the achievement. Shotwell<\/strong> said, “I congratulate the SpaceX team<\/strong> for completing 500 missions<\/strong> with flight-proven rocket boosters<\/strong>. You have made the impossible possible with reusable rockets<\/strong> and paved the way to transport large amounts of cargo<\/strong> and many people<\/strong> to establish a permanent human presence<\/strong> on the Moon and beyond<\/strong> with Starship<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fully reusable Starship<\/strong> developed by SpaceX<\/strong> is not included in this count, although it has been launched 11 times<\/strong> to date. For now, all Starship<\/strong> launches are classified as suborbital test flights<\/strong>. Starship<\/strong> stands out as the largest and most powerful rocket<\/strong> aimed at carrying humanity to the Moon<\/strong> and Mars<\/strong>.\"Sentinel-6<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Sentinel-6B<\/strong> will serve as part of the European Union<\/strong>‘s Copernicus Earth observation program<\/strong>. By measuring global sea surface height<\/strong> with high accuracy<\/strong>, the satellite will continue the work of Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich<\/strong>, launched in 2020<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Copernicus data<\/strong>, the average height<\/strong> of the world’s oceans has increased by approximately 10 cm<\/strong> in the last 25 years<\/strong>. Sentinel-6B<\/strong> will operate with a radar altimeter<\/strong> device developed by ESA<\/strong>. Additionally, the satellite will enable more accurate interpretation of altimeter data<\/strong> by measuring the amount of water in the atmosphere<\/strong> with a microwave radiometer<\/strong> provided by NASA<\/strong>. During its first year of observation<\/strong>, Sentinel-6B<\/strong> will work alongside Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich<\/strong> to enhance data accuracy<\/strong> through precise cross-calibration<\/strong> between the two instruments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
