Plug-in hybrid and range-extender versions are currently on the agenda for the new multi-energy platform for the <strong>Megane E-Tech<\/strong> and <strong>Scenic E-Tech<\/strong>, which are currently only offered in a <strong>100% electric<\/strong> form. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Renault had launched the <strong>Megane<\/strong> and <strong>Scenic<\/strong> models solely as <strong>100% electric<\/strong> vehicles. However, hybrid versions for this duo may come onto the agenda. Company executives confirmed that the brand\u2019s new <strong>multi-fuel-supported platform<\/strong> is under development. This platform will form the basis of Renault&#8217;s future C-segment models. &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"403\" src=\"https:\/\/metaverseplanet.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/indir-1-6.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-33304\" srcset=\"https:\/\/metaverseplanet.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/indir-1-6.webp 720w, https:\/\/metaverseplanet.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/indir-1-6-300x168.webp 300w, https:\/\/metaverseplanet.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/indir-1-6-150x84.webp 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Renault CEO Fabrice Cambolive explained that the platform is primarily being developed as an <strong>all-electric architecture<\/strong> but is also designed to support <strong>plug-in hybrid<\/strong> and <strong>range-extender electric vehicle (EREV)<\/strong> powertrains. This flexibility will allow other options to be easily added if <strong>electric<\/strong> sales do not progress at the expected pace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stating that Renault has been successful with the <strong>all-electric platform<\/strong> in the B-segment, Cambolive said that a <strong>multi-energy plan<\/strong> would be more suitable for the C and D segments. This approach will enable the brand to offer <strong>flexible power options<\/strong> in its larger models. The new platform is expected to hit the market around <strong>2030<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although executives did not detail which models the platform will cover, the timing suggests the renewal of the CMF-EV-based <strong>Megane E-Tech<\/strong>, introduced in 2022, and the <strong>Scenic<\/strong> models launched in 2024. This means Renault could offer these two currently <strong>all-electric<\/strong> models with <strong>internal combustion engine<\/strong> options again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cambolive explained that the developed <strong>hybrid system<\/strong> would be based on a structure where the <strong>electric motors<\/strong> handle the propulsion, and the <strong>petrol engine<\/strong> functions only as a <strong>generator<\/strong> to charge the battery. Cambolive stated, &#8220;Do we want <strong>series propulsion<\/strong> or direct propulsion?
