SpaceX’s cellular Starlink<\/strong> is now also available in Japan<\/strong> and Canada<\/strong> on the Apple Watch Ultra 3<\/strong>, Series 11<\/strong>, and SE 3<\/strong> models. Users can engage in text messaging<\/strong> and data transfer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SpaceX’s cellular Starlink<\/strong> system was initially designed to provide connectivity only to smartphones<\/strong>. However, it now also supports Apple Watch<\/a><\/em><\/strong> models in Japan<\/strong> and Canada<\/strong>. This makes it possible for users to send and receive data<\/strong> via Starlink satellites<\/strong> directly through their smartwatches<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Japan<\/strong>, the operator providing this support, KDDI<\/strong>, announced that the service offered through its Au<\/strong> brand is now compatible with the Apple Watch<\/a><\/em> Ultra 3<\/strong>, Series 11<\/strong>, and SE 3<\/strong> models. The operator’s updated support page states that users must purchase the cellular version<\/strong> of the Apple Watch<\/strong> and subscribe to Au’s Starlink Direct service<\/strong> to use this feature. It is also emphasized that only sending and receiving messages<\/strong> is supported through the Apple Watch<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Canada<\/strong>, SpaceX’s partner<\/strong>, Rogers Communications<\/strong>, similarly added Starlink support<\/strong> for the Apple Watch<\/strong>. Rogers is offering the service as a free beta<\/strong> for all Canadian users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This feature, which has arrived for users in Canada<\/strong> and Japan<\/strong>, is expected to be offered soon in the US<\/strong> by T-Mobile<\/strong>, SpaceX’s partner<\/strong>. T-Mobile<\/strong> already supports Apple Watch cellular plans<\/strong> and is compatible with over 70 phone models<\/strong> through its T-Satellite service<\/strong>. This feature will enable Apple Watch owners<\/strong> to message<\/strong> and transfer data<\/strong> via satellite connection<\/strong>, even in areas without cellular coverage<\/strong>. Furthermore, it is reported that Apple<\/strong> is working on more satellite connectivity features<\/strong> specifically for the iPhone<\/strong>.
