The 2026 Toyota Hilux<\/strong> has returned with its completely renewed design, all-electric version<\/strong>, and powerful technological features. The new Hilux combines performance and comfort for pickup lovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toyota is completely renewing the legendary name of the pickup world, the Hilux, for the 2026 model year. The current generation, which has been on the roads for over a decade, is now giving way to a much more modern, technological, and assertive model. Furthermore, at the center of this story is the first all-electric version<\/strong> in Hilux history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of design, the Hilux now has a much more angular and muscular<\/strong> appearance. The front face carries strong lines reminiscent of the Tacoma. The classic Toyota logo has been replaced by large “TOYOTA” lettering. The closed grille<\/strong> design is a detail specific to the all-electric version. Internal combustion engine models will retain the classic grille.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toyota will now offer the Hilux only in the double cab<\/strong> option. Since the vast majority of customer demand is in this direction, other body types are being discontinued. A new rear step, revised side sills, and an American-style rear design featuring giant embossed “TOYOTA” lettering are also notable details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cabin, however, has been renewed from top to bottom. The old model’s simple appearance has been replaced by an upright, strong cockpit inspired by the Land Cruiser. Dual 12.3-inch digital screens<\/strong> create a modern atmosphere, while physical buttons<\/strong> have not been abandoned. Buttons for the air conditioning and traction systems are still located in the center of the console. This shows that the Hilux maintains its functional and practical identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The electric Hilux features a 59.2 kWh battery<\/strong> and offers a 240-kilometer range<\/strong> according to WLTP. The dual-motor system, providing a total of 144 kW (193 hp)<\/strong>, has a front motor producing 205 Nm and a rear motor producing 269 Nm of torque. The electric pickup has a 715-kilogram carrying capacity<\/strong> and a 1,600-kilogram towing capacity<\/strong>. On the DC fast charging side, there is support for up to 150 kW<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As seen, the electric Hilux’s specifications are not very bright. Fortunately, other engine options are also in play. The 2.8-liter 48V-assisted diesel<\/strong> engine can carry a 1,000-kilogram load<\/strong> and has a 3,500-kilogram towing capacity<\/strong>. It is thought that this diesel option will be the most preferred version in Europe. A classic 2.8-liter diesel and a 2.7-liter gasoline engine will also be on sale in some markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The brand is also quite ambitious in its future plans. In 2028<\/strong>, a hydrogen fuel cell<\/strong> Hilux will hit the roads. Toyota is developing this technology jointly with BMW. In the same year, the German brand’s iX5 Hydrogen model will also be introduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Hilux also makes a significant leap in technology. It uses Electric Power Steering (EPS)<\/strong> for the first time. Blind spot warning, a driver fatigue camera, safe exit assist, wireless charging, rear USB ports, and over-the-air (OTA) software update<\/strong> support are now available on all versions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2026 Toyota Hilux<\/strong> will go on sale in Europe in December<\/strong>. Production of the 48V-assisted diesel<\/strong> version will begin next spring<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
