Following CES 2025<\/strong>, XPeng<\/strong> unveiled its flying car roadmap<\/strong> at its AI Day<\/strong> event. The first mass-produced flying car<\/strong>, slated for delivery in 2026<\/strong>, and subsequent models are poised to reshape the future of transportation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Land Aircraft Carrier<\/strong> is preparing to become the world\u2019s first mass-produced flying car<\/strong>. The model has already gathered 7,000 orders<\/strong> globally, surpassing its competitor Jetson One<\/strong>. The vehicle, scheduled for 2026 delivery<\/strong>, offers a 1,000-kilometer range<\/strong> and can perform five to six flights on a single charge<\/strong>. XPeng<\/strong> notes that it has accumulated over 5,000 kilometers of verified flight data<\/strong> during the development process. Purchasers will benefit from a first-of-its-kind flight license program<\/strong> that includes one-on-one coaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite these advancements, many question marks<\/strong> still surround the model. Initially, the flying car<\/strong> is planned to be sold only in China<\/strong>, where it will be usable at approximately 200 existing flight camps<\/strong>. However, critical details such as the process for obtaining a flight license<\/strong> and the applicable regulations<\/strong> remain unclear. XPeng<\/strong> did not showcase the vehicle’s interior during the event; only the flight module<\/strong> and exterior design<\/strong> were displayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the 2028\u20132030<\/strong> period, XPeng<\/strong> aims to launch a new flying vehicle named A868<\/strong>. This hybrid vehicle<\/strong>, a mix of a drone<\/strong> and a helicopter<\/strong>, will feature a six-seater cabin structure<\/strong> and a top speed of 360 km\/h<\/strong>. Most importantly, it promises flight capability<\/strong> that could completely eliminate the problem of traffic congestion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, the company began test flights<\/strong> on the Guangzhou\u2013Guilin route<\/strong>. XPeng<\/strong> is positioning the A868<\/strong> as a unique solution, especially for the business sector<\/strong>. While personal helicopters<\/strong> may not be accessible to most people as of 2025<\/strong>, the company aims to make the flying vehicle experience<\/strong> “everyday.” Nevertheless, the fact that XPeng<\/strong> conducted its presentation flights with professional pilots<\/strong> raises questions about how user-friendly<\/strong> the vehicle will ultimately be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Post-2035<\/strong>, subject to legal regulations<\/strong>, XPeng<\/strong> plans to introduce a true sports car-looking flying vehicle<\/strong>. However, it remains uncertain whether this is a genuine vision<\/strong> or an unnecessary pipe dream<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
