XPeng<\/strong>, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, caused a major stir at its 2025 AI Day<\/strong> by introducing its next-generation Iron<\/strong> humanoid robot<\/a><\/em><\/strong>. The robot’s incredibly lifelike walk sparked intense debate on social media, with many questioning whether there was a “human inside.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The unveiling of the new Iron<\/strong> robot marks one of XPeng\u2019s most ambitious ventures into the technology sector. The female-form Iron<\/strong> took the stage with fluid and natural movements, resembling a catwalk model’s stride. XPeng CEO He Xiaopeng<\/strong> revealed the secret to the robot\u2019s soft and balanced steps: “passive degrees of freedom added to its toes.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While retaining the same dimensions as the 2024 prototype (178 cm, 70 kg), the new Iron<\/strong> boasts significant structural advancements. It now features a more human-like spine<\/strong>, a biomechanical muscle system<\/strong>, flexible artificial skin<\/strong>, a hand with 22 degrees of freedom<\/strong>, and a 3D curved screen<\/strong> for its head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the core of the robot lies XPeng\u2019s second-generation VLA (Vision-Language-Action) model<\/strong>. This system is powered by the company’s proprietary three Turing AI chips<\/strong>, delivering up to 2250 TOPS<\/strong> of processing power. The use of solid-state batteries<\/strong> ensures both a lighter structure and high safety standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
