Volkswagen<\/strong> is accelerating its transformation in the Chinese market with a new electric sedan model<\/strong> developed in partnership with the Chinese company Xpeng<\/strong>. The model will be one of the first co-produced vehicles to join the brand’s ID. series<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can understand the increasingly serious role of China<\/strong> in the automotive world from the collaborations made in recent years. Volkswagen’s<\/strong> agreement with Xpeng<\/strong> is one of the best examples of this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This partnership<\/strong>, announced last year, focuses on developing a next-generation electronic architecture<\/strong> to support a wide range of vehicles, from all-electric models<\/strong> to hybrid<\/strong> and internal combustion engine<\/strong> vehicles. The first result of this joint effort will be an unnamed new Volkswagen electric sedan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The model, which was recently spotted testing in camouflage on Chinese roads<\/strong>, is thought to be built on the second-generation Xpeng P7<\/strong>, which was introduced a short while ago. Digital artist Sugar Design<\/strong> revealed the possible design of the car through renderings based on the camouflaged prototypes. These drawings show that the automobile has a much more fluid, sporty, and assertive character<\/strong> compared to the classic Volkswagen models sold in other markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the front section<\/strong>, slim LED headlights<\/strong>, a small illuminated Volkswagen logo<\/strong> in the center, and a large black grille<\/strong> stand out. On the side<\/strong>, the curved roofline<\/strong> and prominent rear fenders<\/strong> give the car a powerful stance<\/strong>. At the rear<\/strong>, there are also slim LED taillights<\/strong> and an illuminated Volkswagen logo<\/strong> in the center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is not yet clear to what extent Volkswagen’s<\/strong> new sedan will technically share the Xpeng P7’s<\/strong> platform. However, the P7<\/strong> is a car measuring 5017 mm in length<\/strong> and is offered with two different battery options<\/strong>. The rear-wheel-drive<\/strong> version produces 362 hp<\/strong> with a single motor. The all-wheel-drive<\/strong> model reaches a total power of 586 hp<\/strong> with an additional motor in the front. The dual-motor version<\/strong> can accelerate from 0 to 100 km\/h in 3.7 seconds<\/strong>. The range<\/strong> varies between 702 and 820 kilometers<\/strong>, depending on the equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
