First <strong>PayPal<\/strong>, and now Western Union, have entered the market. Western Union will launch its cryptocurrency, named the <strong>U.S. Dollar Payment Token (USDPT)<\/strong>, on the <strong>Solana blockchain<\/strong> in the first half of next year. The <strong>USDPT<\/strong> will be issued by <strong>Anchorage Digital Bank<\/strong>, and users will be able to access it through Western Union&#8217;s partner exchanges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new currency will offer Western Union&#8217;s 100 million customers the opportunity to transact in <strong>international money transfers<\/strong> without being affected by the fluctuations of local currencies. While <strong>Solana<\/strong> already hosts many successful stablecoin projects, Western Union&#8217;s initiative is seen as one of the most significant steps in this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, the total value of the <strong>stablecoin market<\/strong> is over <strong>$300 billion<\/strong>. Western Union performs hundreds of billions of dollars in money transfers every year.
