Before the first half of 2026 ends, 200-300 charging hubs will be established across Europe.

Although electric vehicles and the infrastructure that facilitates their use are becoming widespread around the world, the range anxiety in users’ minds has not yet been completely eliminated. Current fast-charging solutions are often limited to around 400 kW and are seen as a major constraint by users. Therefore, a breakthrough in this area is of great importance for the industry. One of the most notable projects in this regard comes from the Chinese auto giant, BYD. BYD’s Flash Charging technology, introduced in March, indicated that a serious leap in EV charging time is imminent. This technology, which reaches a charging speed of 1000 kW, allows electric vehicles to gain approximately 400 km of range in just five minutes. Furthermore, this technology is now expanding beyond China.

BYD Brings Flash Charging Technology to Europe

BYD’s primary target is the European market. Speaking at the IAA Mobility 2025 exhibition, Stella Li, CEO of BYD Europe, announced that the company plans to establish 200–300 flash charging hubs across Europe before the first half of 2026 is over. The exact number of sockets is yet to be clarified. These charging points will use the existing European standard CCS connectors and deliver up to 1,000 kW of DC power with a single cable (while Chinese flash charging stations use two cables, the same power will be achieved with a single cable in Europe).

The infrastructure of BYD’s 1,000 kW fast-charging stations features an advanced battery and charging architecture. BYD’s new generation Blade batteries operate on a 1,000-volt architecture and generate lower heat at the cell level despite the high current flow. To keep the intense heat generated at the 1 MW level under control, the system uses active liquid cooling in both the cables and the battery pack, constantly balancing the temperature. This maintains efficiency during the 5-minute ultra-charge and prevents thermal degradation.

Thanks to the CCS standard, other brands like Tesla, Mercedes, and BMW will also be able to charge at these stations; however, only new-generation vehicles that support this architecture will benefit from the 1 MW speed. This will also showcase BYD’s premium brand, Denza. As Denza models, positioned by BYD in the luxury segment, are among the first vehicles to support this 1,000-volt architecture. By opening its flash charging technology to the world, BYD will also underscore the technological superiority of the Denza brand.

BYD’s move in Europe could be a major turning point for electric vehicle users. The widespread adoption of fast-charging technology can alleviate the concerns of vehicle owners, especially during long journeys and intercity travel, and eliminate question marks about electric vehicles.

You Might Also Like;

The Dark Side of Nanotechnology: Could Microscopic Swarms Erase Billions?

The Illusion of Digital Immortality: Are You Really Uploading Your Mind?

The View That Changes Everything: Artemis 2’s Deep Space Eclipse

BYD is bringing its “flash charging” technology, which allows electric vehicles to add 400 km of range in 5 minutes, to Europe.
