The company estimates that the “continuous power, which is very important for the new motor, will also be around 350-400 kW.” Yasa states that more details regarding the development of the said prototype motor will be shared soon.

Yasa is a company specializing in compact axial-flux motors. In these motors, the magnetic field travels along the rotation axis of the rotor, rather than outward from the center of the rotor as in classic motors. This arrangement increases power density and generally makes the motors smaller. Axial-flux motors are usually developed in a disc-like form due to their component arrangement.

Mercedes-Benz acquired the Oxford-based company in 2021. Two years later, Yasa introduced the Mercedes-Benz Vision One-Eleven concept car with its axial-flux motors. This technology evolved into the AMG GT XX, which is equipped with three motors and broke several world records in August thanks to its efficiency and power output. The technology is not yet used in Mercedes’ production models but is being applied in some hybrid supercars, including Ferrari models.

You Might Also Like;

The Dark Side of Nanotechnology: Could Microscopic Swarms Erase Billions?

The Illusion of Digital Immortality: Are You Really Uploading Your Mind?

The View That Changes Everything: Artemis 2’s Deep Space Eclipse

The UK-based electric motor company Yasa broke its own record by achieving a power density of 59 kW/kg with a short-term peak power of 750 kW.
