Oura<\/strong> plans to bring blood pressure measurement<\/strong> functionality to its smart rings<\/strong>. The hypertension alert<\/strong> feature, which is coming to the Oura Ring 3<\/strong> and Ring 4<\/strong> models, will undergo a testing phase<\/strong> before being rolled out to everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oura<\/strong> added a stress tracking<\/strong> feature to its platform in 2023. The smart ring manufacturer recently announced that this feature is being enhanced with a new tool that will provide users with insights into how their bodies cope with stress<\/strong> over time. Oura<\/strong> has also taken the first steps to develop features that will alert users when their blood pressure<\/strong> rises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Apple<\/strong> and Samsung<\/strong> claim that their smartwatches<\/strong> can measure blood pressure when necessary, the Huawei Watch D<\/strong> and Watch D2<\/strong> are the only consumer-grade wearables<\/strong> that offer medically certified<\/strong> level blood pressure measurement<\/strong>. The Circular Ring 2<\/strong> can also measure blood pressure, but this feature is paid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oura<\/strong> stated that it will bring similar support to some of its newest smart rings. The company specifically hopes to offer blood pressure measurement<\/strong> on the Oura Ring 3<\/strong> and Oura Ring 4<\/strong> models. However, Oura<\/strong> needs to obtain regulatory approval<\/strong> before it can offer this feature to consumers. Users who opt for the Oura Labs service<\/strong> will get early access<\/strong> to the feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oura’s smart rings<\/strong> will interpret blood pressure levels via PPG sensors<\/strong>. The Oura Ring 3<\/strong> and Oura Ring 4<\/strong> will not require calibration<\/strong> with a medical-grade blood pressure monitor before use. In other words, the Oura Ring 3<\/strong> and Oura Ring 4<\/strong> will not be able to display<\/strong> diastolic<\/strong> and systolic<\/strong> measurements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
