Companies investing in and developing Artificial Intelligence<\/a><\/em><\/strong> claim it will be more revolutionary than the internet. However, the global public perspective is quite different. Most countries feel more concern<\/strong> than excitement. The population with the highest level of concern<\/strong> is in the United States<\/strong>\u2014the country that is both the pioneer and the most powerful driving force of AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a recent survey by the Pew Research Center<\/strong>, an average of $43\\%$<\/strong> of participants worldwide reported feeling both concerned and excited about AI. This rate is $8\\%$ higher than the $34\\%$<\/strong> who said they were “more concerned.” This means the proportion of those who are more excited<\/strong> about AI is quite low: just $16\\%$<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Impact of Income and Education Levels<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The research shows a connection between a country’s income level<\/strong> and the rate of awareness about AI. People in higher-income countries<\/strong> are more familiar with Artificial Intelligence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Education level<\/strong> is also a significant factor. Less educated individuals<\/strong> express more concern<\/strong> about AI than their more educated counterparts. Individuals who use the internet intensively<\/strong> are more excited about the technology integrating into all areas of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most participants trust their own governments<\/strong> to regulate AI. For example, $89\\%$ of adults in India<\/strong>, $74\\%$ in Indonesia<\/strong>, and $72\\%$ in Israel<\/strong> trust their government to regulate AI. The situation is different in the U.S.<\/strong>: $44\\%$ trust, and $47\\%$ do not. Interestingly, countries that are more excited<\/strong> about AI also show higher trust<\/strong> in their governments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Effects on Work and Economy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Many top executives, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman<\/strong>, now acknowledge that AI will lead to job losses<\/strong> and the complete elimination of some professions. Earlier claims suggested that AI would support people’s jobs. Despite this, industry representatives are often surprised or unsettled by the public’s failure to share their excitement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The research indicates that the vast majority of the public is either indifferent or reactive<\/strong> towards Artificial Intelligence<\/strong>. However, it is unlikely that a multi-billion-dollar industry will change its stance simply because of public concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
