ech giant Meta<\/strong> has joined forces<\/strong> with Arm<\/strong> to scale its AI systems<\/strong>. Meta\u2019s ranking and recommendation systems will be operated on the Arm Neoverse platform<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meta is joining forces with Arm<\/strong> to expand its artificial intelligence infrastructure<\/strong>. The social media giant has initiated a multi-year partnership with the semiconductor design company Arm<\/strong> to scale its AI systems<\/strong> and improve user experience. Under this agreement, Meta’s ranking and recommendation systems<\/strong> will be migrated to the Arm Neoverse platform<\/strong>, which is optimized for AI applications<\/strong> in the cloud environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although Arm is primarily known for its mobile processor architecture<\/strong>, its GPU solutions have often been overshadowed by competitors like Nvidia and AMD. However, the company highlights its advantage in low power consumption<\/strong> for AI applications<\/strong>. It seems logical for Meta, which has over $3$ billion users, to switch to an energy-efficient platform<\/strong> for its ranking and recommendation systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meta Accelerates Infrastructure Investments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This collaboration comes at a time when Meta<\/a><\/em><\/strong> is accelerating its data center network investments<\/strong> to meet the growing demand for its AI services<\/strong>. In a project codenamed \u201cPrometheus<\/strong>,\u201d Meta will utilize several gigawatts of energy capacity, set to become operational in $2027$. The currently under-construction project will be powered by $200$ megawatts of natural gas infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meta is also building a $2,250$-acre data center campus<\/strong>. This project, codenamed \u201cHyperion<\/strong>,\u201d will offer $5$ gigawatts of processing power upon completion. Construction is planned to continue until $2030$, though it may be phased in gradually until then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Arm and Meta are not exchanging shares or sharing significant physical infrastructure in this agreement, which distinguishes this partnership from many recent AI infrastructure<\/strong> deals. Rather, the collaboration follows a traditional approach. As is known, Nvidia is not only supplying OpenAI<\/strong> but is also making a $\\$100$ billion investment. It is also investing billions in xAI, Thinking Machines Lab, and Mistral. AMD, on the other hand, announced it would provide OpenAI<\/strong> with $6$ gigawatts of processing capacity, and under the agreement, OpenAI<\/strong> will receive an option right for up to $10\\%$ of AMD shares. These have been noted as agreements that significantly deviate from the traditional partnership structures seen so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
