Stablecoin<\/strong> giant Tether<\/strong> is continuing its established strategy by adding new BTC<\/strong> worth $1 billion<\/strong> to its Bitcoin reserves<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stablecoin<\/strong> giant Tether<\/strong> transferred 8,888 BTC<\/strong> (approximately $1 billion<\/strong>) to its Bitcoin reserves<\/strong>, increasing its total Bitcoin treasury<\/strong> to 109,410 BTC<\/strong>. The transfer, tracked via addresses tagged by on-chain data platforms Arkham<\/strong> and Nansen<\/strong>, aligns with Tether’s habit of accumulating Bitcoin<\/a><\/em><\/strong> at the end of every quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fact that the transfer originated from Bitfinex<\/strong> raised the question of whether this was a new purchase<\/strong> or an internal movement<\/strong>. While the company did not make an official statement, CEO Paolo Ardoino’s<\/strong> “yes” reply to a social media post about the transfer suggests the move was a new acquisition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of its long-term diversification strategy<\/strong>, which it has maintained since 2022, Tether<\/strong> allocates 15 percent<\/strong> of its net quarterly profit to buy Bitcoin<\/strong>. With this latest purchase, Tether now holds the world’s second-largest private company Bitcoin treasury<\/strong>, excluding publicly listed companies, with a BTC asset<\/strong> value of $12.4 billion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
