The <strong>artificial intelligence<\/strong> with <strong>five million parameters<\/strong> takes about <strong>2 hours<\/strong> to generate one answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are familiar with the <strong>Minecraft community<\/strong> pushing the boundaries to create incredible structures. Now, <strong>artificial intelligence<\/strong> has been added to these structures. The YouTube channel <strong>sammyuri<\/strong> managed to run a similar <strong>Large Language Model (LLM)<\/strong> with <strong>ChatGPT<\/strong> functionality inside <strong>Minecraft<\/strong> using <strong>Redstone<\/strong>. Its name, <strong>CraftGPT<\/strong>, was chosen as a reference to this connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Redstone<\/strong> is one of the most admired elements in <strong>Minecraft<\/strong>. Many automations, including complex machines and even <strong>functional computers<\/strong>, can be realized with <strong>Redstone<\/strong>. The <strong>ChatGPT-like LLM<\/strong> is designed as a <strong>Redstone and ROM behemoth<\/strong> with <strong>5,087,280 parameters<\/strong>. The parameter count is incredibly small compared to modern models, which have billions of parameters. Even <strong>AlexNet<\/strong>, considered the ancestor of all <strong>AI<\/strong>, had <strong>60 million parameters<\/strong>. Nevertheless, in the blocky world of <strong>Minecraft<\/strong>, this is considered a <strong>groundbreaking achievement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The model was trained on simple English conversations using the <strong>TinyChat dataset<\/strong> with <strong>Python<\/strong>. <strong>Sammyuri<\/strong> explained that the model was first <strong>trained externally<\/strong> and then run inside <strong>Minecraft<\/strong> using <strong>Redstone circuits<\/strong>. That is, the learning process did not occur in the game, but the <strong>trained model<\/strong> was made to function within the <strong>Minecraft environment<\/strong>. The model has a vocabulary of <strong>1,920 tokens<\/strong>. All of this combines to create a <strong>functional<\/strong>, yet extremely <strong>slow<\/strong>, <strong>chatbot<\/strong> operating within <strong>Minecraft<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"I built ChatGPT with Minecraft redstone!\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VaeI9YgE1o8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The machine, consisting of approximately <strong>1020\u00d7260\u00d71656 blocks<\/strong> (a total of <strong>439 million blocks<\/strong>), naturally cannot be viewed within the normal draw distance. Performance is, as expected, quite limited. Generating a single answer takes about <strong>two hours<\/strong> on a high-performance <strong>Redstone server<\/strong>. Therefore, this project should be viewed as a <strong>proof of concept<\/strong> rather than a practical tool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For years, <strong>Minecraft players<\/strong> have created <strong>calculators<\/strong>, functional <strong>hard drives<\/strong>, and even <strong>emulators<\/strong> for games like <strong>Doom<\/strong>, all powered by <strong>Redstone<\/strong>.
