Einride has taken a significant step towards the future of sustainable transportation<\/strong> and autonomous logistics<\/strong> by operating its fully autonomous electric heavy-duty truck<\/strong> on a public road in Europe for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swedish-based Einride has launched its Level 4 autonomous driving<\/strong> technology-equipped electric<\/a><\/em> truck<\/strong>, which it has been working on for a long time, on public roads in Europe for the first time. The operation, carried out at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, proves that the technology the company has been quietly developing has now reached a point where it can serve in the real world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vehicle used in the trial, permitted under Belgium’s new legal framework, stands out with its cab-less design<\/strong>, a maximum gross vehicle weight of approximately 37 tons, and a 320 kWh capacity battery<\/strong>. Thanks to this powerful battery, the truck can achieve a range of over 650 kilometers<\/strong>. Its aerodynamic body structure also contributes to this long range. Einride’s developed system operates with remote operator support<\/strong> in edge cases, much like Waymo’s approach. The vehicle processes over 5 million data points per second, transferring information from radar and LiDAR sensors to artificial intelligence<\/strong> to make real-time driving decisions. This method allows multiple vehicles to be managed by a single operator and holds the potential to significantly reduce costs in the logistics sector<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Port of Antwerp-Bruges is known as one of the world’s most complex logistics hubs. With its test at this site, Einride has demonstrated that autonomous systems<\/strong> can manage cargo flow more efficiently, reduce emissions, and offer much more sustainable solutions<\/strong> compared to diesel trucks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
