So, what are its features?

Bluetti introduced the world’s first sodium-ion battery-based portable power station at IFA 2025.

Bluetti Pioneer Na Features

The device, named Pioneer Na, includes AC and USB outputs and can provide a continuous power output of 1,500W. This allows it to power most household appliances or camping equipment. It also supports up to 500W of solar panel input. The most striking feature, which the company claims is a world first, is its 900 Wh sodium-ion battery.

The advantage of sodium-ion chemistry is that the device can be used in very low temperatures. The portable power station can be charged down to -15°C, albeit with slightly reduced performance, and can power devices down to -25°C. In comparison, it is recommended that new-generation lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries not be charged below 0°C and not be operated at temperatures below -20°C.

Like LFP, sodium-ion batteries do not carry the risk of thermal runaway and can withstand more than 4,000 charge cycles. This means that even with daily use, the battery can still retain 70% of its capacity after 10 years. Additionally, since sodium is a readily available element, it does not require the use of rare elements like cobalt or lithium.

However, these batteries also have disadvantages. The supply chain for sodium-ion cell production is not yet well-developed, and their energy density is lower compared to LFP batteries. This means that for the same capacity, they are heavier, larger, and more expensive.

The Pioneer Na weighs 16 kg and has dimensions of 340 x 247 x 317 mm. In comparison, Bluetti’s Elite 100 V2 model, with a 1 kWh LFP battery, 1,800W output, and twice the solar input, weighs only 11.5 kg and measures 320 x 215 x 250 mm. In short, the Pioneer Na is primarily advantageous for those who need to use it in extremely cold conditions.

The Pioneer Na will be available for global sale on October 15th, but the price has not yet been announced.

You Might Also Like;

The Dark Side of Nanotechnology: Could Microscopic Swarms Erase Billions?

The Illusion of Digital Immortality: Are You Really Uploading Your Mind?

The View That Changes Everything: Artemis 2’s Deep Space Eclipse

Bluetti has unveiled the world’s first sodium-ion battery-based portable power station.
