Microsoft’s<\/strong> artificial intelligence division recently announced its first in-house developed models: MAI-Voice-1<\/strong> and MAI-1-preview<\/strong>. The technology giant is known to be one of OpenAI’s<\/strong> biggest partners and supporters. However, the company’s introduction of its own models further complicates its relationship with OpenAI<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MAI-Voice-1<\/strong> can generate one minute of audio in less than a second on a single GPU. This model is already being used in features like Copilot Daily<\/strong>. The tool can read the day’s top news aloud to the user and explain topics in a podcast style. Additionally, this system, which anyone can try via Copilot Labs<\/strong>, offers the ability to personalize voice tone and speaking style settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, the MAI-1-preview<\/strong> model was trained using approximately 15,000 Nvidia<\/a><\/em> H100 GPUs<\/strong>. Microsoft<\/strong> is positioning this model specifically as an assistant that can provide meaningful and useful answers to everyday questions. While the company prepares to integrate this model into Copilot<\/strong>, it is also testing it on the AI benchmark platform called LMArena<\/strong>. Microsoft AI<\/strong> CEO, Mustafa Suleyman<\/strong>, had previously stated that the focus of their models is on the consumer experience<\/strong>, not enterprise. The advertising and user interaction data held by the company also facilitates the development of more powerful artificial intelligences.
