The country is expected to <strong>triple<\/strong> its <strong>AI chip production<\/strong> within the next few years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Considering recent geopolitical developments, it is clear that <strong>China<\/strong> has started on a path to move away from Western-centric <strong>AI hardware<\/strong>. Although this transformation will take years, <strong>China<\/strong> has already begun preparations. According to a report by the Financial Times, the country plans to increase its <strong>AI chip production<\/strong> by up to three times in the coming years. It is claimed that the total production capacity of these facilities will approach <strong>SMIC&#8217;s<\/strong> figures. Additionally, <strong>SMIC<\/strong> plans to double its <strong>7nm production<\/strong> by 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compared to a few years ago, <strong>China&#8217;s AI chips<\/strong> are in a position to compete with <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/metaverseplanet.net\/blog\/tag\/nvidia-news-and-content\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"102\">NVIDIA<\/a><\/em><\/strong>. <strong>Huawei&#8217;s Ascend 910D<\/strong> processor and <strong>Cambricon&#8217;s 690 series<\/strong> are prominent examples. Interestingly, <strong>DeepSeek<\/strong> recently announced that they would adapt their AI models to the <strong>FP8 format<\/strong>. Although no Chinese chip currently offers <strong>FP8 support<\/strong>, the recent increase in <strong>Cambricon&#8217;s<\/strong> stock value suggests that they may have developed a solution in this direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reducing dependency on foreign hardware has become a national priority for <strong>China<\/strong>. According to local sources, the <strong>Beijing Municipality<\/strong> aims for 100% self-sufficiency in the field of AI computing. For now, although <strong>China<\/strong> lags behind <strong>NVIDIA<\/strong>, advancements in areas such as <strong>semiconductor manufacturing processes, high-bandwidth memory, and packaging technologies<\/strong> show that a strong ecosystem is forming.
