Sharp<\/strong> has introduced a brand-new AI companion<\/strong> named Poketomo<\/strong>. The device will make its first public appearance later this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharp has unveiled a cute AI companion called “Poketomo,” which will be sold in Japan<\/strong>. Available as both a small robot<\/a><\/em><\/strong> and a mobile app<\/strong>, Poketomo is designed to offer users daily conversation and emotional support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The device is just 12 cm tall<\/strong> and weighs only 200 grams<\/strong>, making it easy to carry anywhere in its pouch-like case. You can chat with Poketomo through voice and text<\/strong>. The device expresses emotions with a body light that changes color and uses gestures to create the feeling of a lively companion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s more, Poketomo doesn’t just talk to you; it also remembers past conversations<\/strong>, recalls places you’ve been, and gradually gets to know you better, evolving into a true friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of Poketomo’s most notable features is its seamless transition between the robot and the app. A conversation that starts with the robot at home can be continued on your phone when you’re out. All conversations are synced via the cloud and stored in a single memory system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The monthly subscription for the app is set at 495 yen (approximately $3.37)<\/strong>, while the pre-order price for the robot version is 39,600 yen (approximately $270)<\/strong>. Sharp aims to sell 100,000 units by 2027<\/strong>. The device will be showcased to the public for the first time at the Tokyo Toy Show from August 28-31<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
