This spacecraft design, which uses solar sails, is actually among the designs that the scientific community has been focusing on recently. It is thought that this design could be particularly useful for spacecraft on long-distance journeys. It is believed that a vehicle launched into space with ignition could then open its solar sails to continue its journey. Although the scientific world is still far from achieving this, work in this direction has already begun. For example, Elon Musk’s Neuralink project is already doing remarkable work in reading and digitally recreating signals from the human brain.

Another futuristic technology we see in Transcendence is self-replicating nanobots.
