Opel has showcased the future of its GSE performance brand<\/strong> and offered clues about the next-generation Corsa with the 789 horsepower electric Corsa GSE Vision concept<\/strong>, developed for Gran Turismo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opel has digitally unveiled the 789 horsepower<\/strong>, 1170 kg electric Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo concept<\/strong> ahead of the Munich show. The concept reveals what the GSE performance brand<\/strong> might offer in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo<\/strong> was designed for the game, it carries elements from the “real world.” The concept is built on the STLA Small platform<\/strong>, developed by Opel’s parent company, Stellantis<\/strong>. According to the brand, basing the concept on this platform and presenting it with the Corsa<\/strong> name was a deliberate move, as it will inspire the design of the seventh-generation Corsa<\/strong>, expected to be introduced in 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vehicle uses the same 82 kWh battery<\/strong> as the Grandland. In contrast, the largest battery in the current Corsa has a capacity of 52 kWh. Despite its radical exterior design, the concept also features production-oriented elements. For instance, a more technical interpretation of Opel’s “Compass<\/strong>” signature is used in the front and rear lighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interior is kept simple but contains potential production-oriented elements. For example, the seats are split into two parts; the backrests are integrated into the roll cage, while the cushion part is connected to the floor. This makes one of the heaviest parts of the vehicle lighter compared to today’s electric vehicles. No screens are used in the concept. Instead, there are only a few physical buttons for basic functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In July, Opel announced that its GSE sub-brand<\/strong> would develop performance-focused electric vehicles<\/strong>. The new Corsa concept takes this vision even further. Thanks to its dual-motor powertrain<\/strong>, the vehicle offers 789 horsepower<\/strong>, weighs 1170 kg<\/strong>, and completes the 0-100 km\/h acceleration in 2 seconds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The maximum speed is limited to 320 km\/h<\/strong>. However, these figures are only valid in the Gran Turismo<\/strong> game. Opel states that these numbers are “realistic” and could theoretically be carried over to a production model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opel has also pushed the design of the concept to the maximum. The vehicle’s active spoiler<\/strong> can extend backward at high speeds to reduce drag and increase stability. It can also function as an air brake when cornering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
